Trauma-Informed Therapy

Trauma isn't always a single, dramatic event. Sometimes it's one big thing. Sometimes it's an accumulation of smaller moments that added up over time. And sometimes trauma is woven into the environments, systems, families, and communities we come from — carried across generations or experienced through racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, classism, displacement, and other forms of oppression and chronic stress. Regardless of the form, trauma can shape how we see ourselves, how safe we feel in relationships, and how our bodies respond to stress long after the original event has passed.

Trauma-informed therapy means the way I practice is built around understanding that impact. It's not just what we talk about, it's how we talk about it: at a pace that feels manageable, with an awareness of how the nervous system holds onto stress, and without ever pushing you to relive more than you're ready for. Safety and trust come first, because healing doesn't happen well without them.

This isn't about labeling every struggle as trauma, or digging up the past for its own sake. It's about recognizing that what's happened to you matters, and building a space where you can process it, make sense of it, and move forward without carrying the full weight of it alone.
